2014 clearly
exceeds expectations
60 million Euro profit in next five years
Koelnmesse remains on track for success. Because of the
drop in turnover due to regular trade fair cycles, 2014 did
not match the record-breaking figures of 2013 or the
expected benchmarks of 2015. However, in the past
twelve months the company’s business figures were
significantly better than planned. The turnover of 230
million Euro was 7 million Euro higher than the original
calculations. The expected loss due to regular trade fair
cycles was much lower than the planned 20 million Euro.
It will fall within the single-digit millions range and will
clearly be more than offset by the profits from 2013, as
predicted. In particular, the positive development of
Koelnmesse’s own events and guest events, as well as its
service business, contributed to the company’s outstand-
ing financial development in 2014.
A new record-breaking year has begun
In 2015, Koelnmesse is likely to once again set new
benchmarks. The company expects to post the highest
turnover (approximately 300 million Euro) and the
biggest profits (over 20 million Euro) in its history. If the
overall economic situation remains stable, Koelnmesse
will earn total profits amounting to almost 60 million
Euro in the coming five years (from 2015 to 2019). These
profits will be entirely invested in the modernisation of
the Cologne exhibition grounds and the further expan-
sion of Koelnmesse’s event portfolio in Germany and
abroad.
